I'm a soil scientist trained in nutrient management (nutrient capture and release by soil; soil fertility) and how soils develop in place to become the unique individuals that they are. My field work was on the Eastern Shore. After seven years teaching and researching soils in the coastal plain of South Texas I'm pleased to be back home serving Maryland producers and those who serve them.
Look for UMD's Agricultural Nutrient Management Program to produce the highest quality nutrient management plans in the state, to provide these services in every county and to ease the process of high quality planning for those who choose to write their own plans. To do this we rely not only the extraordinary foundation created by Dr. Trish Steinhilber and other emeriti, but on the insights of faculty specialists and every one of our county coordinators whose hard and conscientious work make this program possible.
