AGNR's critical mission in education prepares students to work in internationally focused organizations, whether in the fields of development, food safety, or sustainable agriculture, among others. Below are AGNR courses or programs that include an international component.
Students interested in earning a certificate or minor in studies with an international focus, may find the Programs below will prepare them with in-depth knowledge of challenges facing our world as we strive to feed a population of over 7 billion people.

Courses
Global Classrooms are semester courses in which UMD students and students at an international university are connected in an on-line classroom to learn about challenges in other countries. Students work in groups on assignments which aides them in developing cross-cultural understanding and communication skills. A few courses offered since 2019:

Study Abroad Courses
UMD has a rich library of study abroad courses that engage students in experiences that combine classroom instruction and hands-on learning. For example, our college has two courses exploring New Zealand, one that focuses on ecosystems and the other on sustainable built environments. Our faculty also teach courses in Peru, Liberia, Italy, among others.
There are generally two kinds of experiences:
- "Student Exchange" is usually a semester long in which the student takes classes full-time. It is like being enrolled at a university. It's a great way to be immersed in a culture.
- "Study Abroad" usually is one class that is 2-3 weeks long for 2-4 credits. The number of credits varies.
