The 214-acre Lower Eastern Shore Research and Education Center's Poplar Hill Facility, is primarily used to evaluate agronomic systems, which help farmers of the Eastern Shore become more efficient with inputs for increased profits, production, and environmental safety. Departments using the facilities at Poplar Hill include Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science and Technology, Entomology, as well as research scientists and technicians from USDA at Beltsville, MD. This site has cooperative studies with the University of Delaware.
