David Gormong has been teaching communication courses since 2010, starting at the Art Institute of Washington, and then Northern Virginia Community College, before coming to the Institute of Applied Agriculture at UMD in the fall of 2021. With an M.A. in Communications, he has a passion for preparing students to serve others through effective speaking, empathic listening, and an appreciation for our human diversity.
David has an avid interest in meditation, mindfulness, flow, and all things contemplative. This helps, for instance, in teaching students how manage anxiety when giving a speech, or how to respond with empathy to an upset client. When he’s not teaching, you might find him reading a book, walking in the woods, or having a long conversation with a friend.
