Kamaria is the Maryland 4-H Coordinator of Social Justice and Civic Engagement at the University of Maryland Extension. She began her career in education after graduating with a Bachelor's degree in English at Florida Atlantic University in 2016. Between 2016 - 2018, she went from working as an AmeriCorps College and Career Ambassador in Los Angeles, CA to being a full time English teacher in South Florida while working on her Creative Writing degree. After graduating with a Masters in Fine Arts from Full Sail University, Kamaria moved to Baltimore, MD to pursue a doctorate in Urban Educational Leadership at Morgan State University. While a doctoral student, she has presented at conferences hosted by nationally recognized educational organizations and universities. She has also co-authored a 4-H curriculum (True Leaders: Cultural, Justice, and Power); assisted with piloting two programs at Morgan (Second Year Experience & Dyslexia Tutoring Program); and is contracted as a research assistant on various projects (with a focus in historical trauma). While in this position, Kamaria hopes to cultivate “True Leaders” with her passion for working with youth and determination to strengthen sustainable solutions.
