Melissa has a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education in Youth and Family Education from The Pennsylvania State University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Youth Development and Agricultural Education from Purdue University. She taught Family and Consumer Sciences in Pennsylvania for 12 years and continues to farm with her siblings in the laurel highlands area of Pennsylvania.
