I grew up in Maryland, and earned my undergraduate degree from California State University, Long Beach. I worked for the Environmental Defense Fund and learned the importance of science, communication and policy interacting to affect change. Since joining UMCES in 2015, I have managed a Demonstration Oyster Farm and begun my PhD research with Dr. Louis Plough. I am interested in identifying operational strategies for oyster farms to enhance their productivity. I am excited about oyster aquaculture because the industry puts more oysters in the Bay while creating sustainable jobs for coastal communities.
