University of Maryland Extension, in partnership with the Community Action Agency of Montgomery County and the IRS, will host free income tax preparation days at the 4-H Center in College Park on February 20, March 27, and April 3, 2015.
The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation help to low-to-moderate income people. If your family earned less than $53,000 in 2014, you can receive FREE tax help and get your 2014 federal and state refunds quickly through e-filing.
In 2014, Maryland VITA volunteers helped taxpayers secure federal refunds amounting to nearly $48,000 and state refunds topping $10,000. UME has helped process hundreds of refunds in Maryland since bringing the tax assistance program to the university community in 2012.
Important note: Non-resident returns (1040 NR) cannot be prepared on February 20 and March 27. International students and scholars who need to file a 1040 NR can make an appointment on April 3 only.
