The University of Maryland’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR) is excited to welcome Dr. Angus Murphy as new chair and professor for the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture (PSLA).

Dr. Murphy comes to the University of Maryland from Purdue University where he served as a professor in the Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Department. Dr. Murphy also participated in the development of the Bindley Bioscience Center and the Discovery Park Energy Center at Purdue and served as the Horticulture/Plant Science graduate program chair.

Dr. Murphy took over the reins at PSLA from Dr. William Kenworthy, who retired July 31 after leading the department for six years. Dr. Kenworthy will continue to work for PSLA part-time managing the state’s soybean variety test program.
